The John Graveney Golf Centre at Millfield School, Street

The new year will bring a unique opportunity for golfers aged 8 to 17 to improve their game through coaching, guidance and support from PGA golf professionals, Karen Nicholls and Stuart Wells, in the brand-new Millfield Golf School.

The Golf School, which is open to children from any school, will take place in Millfield's state of the art John Graveney Golf Centre at the senior school in Street, named after Old Millfieldian John Graveney and launched in 2020. The centre can be used all year-round and features world-leading technology, including motion tracking and simulation software.

An application has been made to Historic England for the moved war memorial in Street's Merriman Park to be re-listed.

A planning application by Street Parish Council's assistant clerk and projects officer Mark Sandiford for the approval of details reserved by condition 7 (Applying for Listed Building Designation) on planning consent 2020/0834/FUL at the War Memorial, Merriman Road, Street, has been approved by Mendip District Council.

Small and medium size businesses in Somerset can boost their staff training for free thanks to a new £265,000 project being launched by Somerset County Council in partnership with the Dorset and Somerset Training Provider Network (DSTPN).

Contracts have just been signed with four training providers – Aspire Training, Bridgwater and Taunton College, Hair Academy South West, and Somerset Business Agency – to deliver Skill Up Springboard. It offers businesses in Somerset access to free short courses for employees who are over the age of 18 to improve their skills and potentially climb the career ladder.
