Strode College in Street marks the second year of delivery of the new T Levels qualifications, they started offering these new employer-designed courses which are equivalent to 3 A Levels from September 2020.

The pioneering new qualifications have been designed in collaboration with leading employers to provide the skills that businesses across the region need. The subject areas on offer also reflect some of the top local business growth areas.

Spot the Elf on a shelf in Street

Santa has sent one of his cheeky elves to spend Christmas at Clarks Village in Street.

As per Christmas tradition, the scout Elf has been tasked with keeping an eye on guests, quietly observing who is being naughty or nice. Throughout December, guests at Clarks Village are invited to come and hunt for the Christmas visitor who is hiding in a secret location within the malls, and of course getting up to his world-renowned mischief!

Harassment and Illegal Evictions will not be tolerated. That's the strong message from Mendip District Council, whose housing officers are determined to root out rogue landlords.

Working with colleagues in Avon and Somerset Police, Mendip's Housing Options team and Private Sector Housing team are targeting landlords found flouting the law. The aim of the action is to protect those tenants who feel hassled or threatened in their chosen homes.

Residents across Mendip could benefit from free energy efficiency improvements worth up to £10,000 thanks to receiving a share of a multi-million pound Government-funded Green Homes Grant Programme, working with E.ON and Happy Energy Solutions.

Endorsed by Mendip District Council, under the Green Homes Grants Scheme, owner-occupiers will benefit from energy efficiency installations up to the value of £10,000 with nothing for them to pay towards the costs of works. Tenants of rented properties can also access grants of up to £5,000 for energy efficiency upgrades, but the landlord will be expected to contribute at least one third towards the cost of works.

Street Parish Council has set its precept

Street Parish Council has announced the precept for the village for 2022/23 will be raised by £28.49 a year (£2.37 a month) on an average Band D property.

This is so that opportunities that the unitary process (read more at www.somerset.gov.uk/how-the-council-works/local-government-reorganisation-in-somerset/) will give for more to be done locally can be taken up and to ensure the future of facilities in Street.
