The new year will bring a unique opportunity for golfers aged 8 to 17 to improve their game through coaching, guidance and support from PGA golf professionals, Karen Nicholls and Stuart Wells, in the brand-new Millfield Golf School.

The Golf School, which is open to children from any school, will take place in Millfield's state of the art John Graveney Golf Centre at the senior school in Street, named after Old Millfieldian John Graveney and launched in 2020. The centre can be used all year-round and features world-leading technology, including motion tracking and simulation software.

The centre has two teaching bays with the opportunity to hit balls from the inside to outside. A further 6 practice bays, an 81 square metre Huxley putting green and use of the SkyTrak and GC Quad ball monitors will enable players to have feedback on all shots, including putting.

Karen and Stuart have experience coaching all level of golfer and have a wealth of knowledge and expertise both on and off the golf course, having played at the top level themselves and having coached national champions. Millfield has an outstanding reputation for producing talented sportspeople, with Karen and Stuart personally coaching a number of golfers who have gone on to play at international level including Ben Taylor (US PGA Tour), Ben Evans (Men's European Tour), Joanna Klatten (US LPGA Tour) and Sophie Keech (Ladies European Tour).

Speaking of the Golf School launch in January, Karen said: "I am looking forward to this new venture, helping the next generation of golfers to develop their skills and take their games to a higher level."

All areas of the game will be covered in the Golf School including long game technique, pitch shots, chipping and putting. Using world-leading technology golfers will get feedback on all ball and club data, important for ongoing development.

The Golf School will take place on Monday evenings from 5.30-6.30pm, with the Spring Term running from 10th January to 28th March at a cost of £198 for the term. Attendees must have some prior golf experience and a handicap.
