Street Parish Council recently agreed to confer the title of Honorary Freeman to Cllr Lloyd Hughes for his valued and dedicated service to the community as a parish councillor for a total of 21 years and as a district councillor for 12 years.

He served as chairman of Street Parish Council in 1997/98 and in 2011/12.

Landlords in Street should ensure that they are aware of the full implications of the Tenant Fees Act 2019 which came into force on Saturday 1st June, advises Stuart Nash, owner of Stuarts Residential, a Somerset-based letting agency specialising in the management of landlords' properties.

He said: "The Tenant Fees Act is one of the biggest changes in legislation for 30 years and both landlords and tenants will need to fully understand what this means for them."

Lower Sixth Tamryn van Selm won gold in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay at the European Championships

Seventeen-year-old student at Millfield School in Street, Tamryn van Selm, was part of the quartet who won gold at the recent European Championships, securing Millfield's first female senior international medal in more than 20 years.

Lower Sixth swimmer Tamryn swam a mature second leg to win gold in the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay on the final weekend of competition in Budapest, Hungary.
