Centre for Sustainable Energy logo, Mendip District Council logo and Midlands Energy Hub logo

Mendip District Council, in partnership with the Centre of Sustainable Energy (CSE), have successfully bid for £49,057 to go towards supporting landlords with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating below Band E, to improve their properties and meet their legal obligations.

Using the funding, the Council and CSE will work together to support Mendip landlords improve their EPC ratings through education, training and events, with the aim of making homes more energy efficient, warmer and cheaper for residents to live in.

Strode College are offering free online or classroom based functional skills courses in Maths or English starting in February 2022.

Functional Skills are national qualifications focussing on the skills and knowledge required to apply English and Mathematics to employment and everyday life. Offered at Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 (GCSE equivalent), Functional Skills at Strode provide adult learners with the opportunity to work at their own pace and ability in a relaxed and friendly, supportive environment on campus or online.

Clarks Village in Somerset will be sending extra special Christmas cards this year, thanks to the help of two Millfield Prep school children.

The premium shopping outlet's official Christmas cards for 2021 were designed by six-year-old Emily Warner and 10-year-old Sebbie Gray as part of a new art competition with Millfield Prep School. The winning designs were chosen amongst entries from across the school and have now been created into the two digital Clarks Village Christmas cards which will be distributed by the outlet and proudly displayed on its website and social media pages.

Some 100 traders set up stalls in Wells and enjoyed success with hundreds of shoppers visiting the 'Christmas in Wells' festive market.

Stalls stretched through the Market Place and on the Bishop's Palace Green, offering a feast of festive food and drink and great gift ideas. Plus there was music and entertainment on offer too.

Located in Apple Court, the 1,339 square foot unit is home to a range of sustainable childrens' clothes from super soft organic babygrows to co-ordinating outerwear and accessories for kids up to 10 years old, as well as maternity and nursing styles from Frugi Bloom. There's even a range of reusable nappies from Frugi's sister brand TotsBots to further champion the sustainability message from the brand.

Santa has sent one of his cheeky elves to spend Christmas at Clarks Village in Street.

As per Christmas tradition, the scout Elf has been tasked with keeping an eye on guests, quietly observing who is being naughty or nice. Throughout December, guests at Clarks Village are invited to come and hunt for the Christmas visitor who is hiding in a secret location within the malls, and of course getting up to his world-renowned mischief!
