Bath-based Truespeed has started rolling out its ultrafast, full fibre broadband network in Street. In parallel, the firm is also kicking off its network build in neighbouring Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury.

More than 15,000 premises across these 3 areas of Somerset are set to benefit from Truespeed's gigabit-capable brand new network infrastructure. Truespeed gives customers their own dedicated fibre-optic cable direct to their door, guaranteeing symmetrical upload/download speeds and ultra-low latency and contention rates to bring residents, businesses, GP surgeries and schools mega-star reliability and lightning-fast, crystal-clear connectivity - even at peak times - for decades to come.

Truespeed's teams of engineers are going the extra mile to minimise local disruption and accelerate the network build. The firm uses flexible deployment techniques to avoid digging up roads, such as connecting fibre-optic cables to existing ducting and poles carrying telephone and power lines, and perseveres and succeeds in securing access permissions for third-party infrastructure and private land. Over 600 customers across Glastonbury, Street and Shepton Mallet have already signed up, many of whom are ready to receive the ultrafast service before Christmas.

Brad Lister, Head of Commercial Activity for Glastonbury Abbey, said: "Truespeed's investment will bring cutting-edge broadband connectivity to the area, which can't come quick enough for our businesses and residents. It's a win-win working with a regionally based and community-minded supplier like Truespeed who has significant understanding and sensitivity about rolling out full fibre networks in both rural and urban areas of Somerset."

James Lowther, CEO of Truespeed, commented: "Access to ultrafast, reliable broadband is an essential part of modern day working and family life. In concert with the local communities of Glastonbury, Street and Shepton Mallet, we're working flat out to deliver exceptional broadband that will truly benefit residents and businesses alike."

On a mission to bring under-served towns, cities and rural communities across the South West the benefits of affordable, full fibre broadband, Truespeed has also always offered free ultrafast broadband for life to schools and community hubs passed by its network, with 100+ signed up to date. This approach ensures the whole community benefits from the investment.
