Year 11 student at Crispin School in Street, Lucy Durston, has been busy representing the school over the last few weeks with her horse Bridgeview Queen, including qualifying for the National School Equestrian Championships.

Firstly, she was in action at the British Showjumping National Championships at Bolesworth, Chester.

She said: "This was a fantastic show with a breathtaking backdrop but sadly luck wasn't on our side against some super fast jumping ponies.

"We had a great time and it was so good to be back out and about again."

Secondly, Lucy and her horse travelled a little closer to home to Cirencester, for the National Schools Equestrian Association qualifiers.

The first team and the first four individuals from each class qualified for the National Championships to be held at Addington in October.

An unlucky pole in the first class dropped Lucy out of the placings against a field of almost 70 riders.

However, in the next class Lucy rode a brilliant round with her horse jumping with speed and precision to finish third in a very strong class, and qualifying for the National Championships.
