A crew from Street was among four called to a fire in Edington this morning (September 17).

Just before 11.15am two fire engines from Bridgwater and one fire engine from Street were mobilised to reports of a property fire in Edington.

On arrival the crews confirmed that there was a fire located on the ground floor of a domestic property and requested a further fire engine from Bridgwater to assist.

The fire crews used a total of six breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, one safety jet and a PPV fan to extinguish the fire and ventilate the property.

The fire destroyed a tumble dryer and caused 90 per cent damage to the utility room, with 20 per cent damage to the rest of the property.

Fortunately all persons were accounted for and the crews were able to stop any further escalation of the fire, the cause of which is believed to be accidental.
