A cottage in Baltonsborough that has been rented out for more than a decade has been given official approval for its planning permission to be altered to allow rental use to be continued.
A planning application for a certificate of lawful existing development for dwellinghouse (use class C3) at Lubborn Cottage, Lubborn Lane, Baltonsborough, was made by Mr and Mrs Wright.
Mr and Mrs Wright have owned Lubborn House, which has Lubborn Cottage in its grounds, since 2009 and the cottage had previously been converted to a residential home by a previous owner.
The applicants understood Lubborn Cottage had been let to various tenants in the past and were
unaware of a restrictive condition on planning permission granted in 1990, which stated that the cottage should not be leased separately from the main house. As a result, the cottage has been let to a number of residents over the past 10 years, but it has now had approval given by Mendip District Council to allow this to continue. Planning applications in the Street area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include: Approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Surface Water Drainage System), 4 (Hard and Soft Landscaping), 6 (Arboriculture) and 11 (Service Entrance) on planning consent 2019/0950/FUL at Crispin Secondary School, Church Road Street, has been applied for by Mr Tom Payne. Approval of details reserved by conditions 2 (Materials) and 3 (Sample Panel) on planning consent 2017/3039/REM at Eastchurch Cottage, Church Lane, East Lydford, is wanted by Mr Neil Piercy. Planning applications in the Street area that have been decided this week by Mendip District Council include: Approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (materials), 5 (walling), 11 (archaeology) and 12 (drainage) on planning consent 2019/1390/FUL at Church Cottage, Church Walk, Baltonsborough, by Mr Oliver Brown has been given. Erection of a steel framed building with timber cladding on land east of Rubbery Farm, Rubbery Lane, Lydford-on-Fosse, by Mr Mark Attwell has been withdrawn. Erection of extension to existing industrial warehouse (B2) and retrospective change of use of the closest part of the yard from agricultural to industrial (B2) and the adjoining yard from agricultural to mixed agricultural and industrial use (sui generis) at Sharpham Park, Sharpham Drove, Sharpham, by Mr and Mrs Roger Saul have been approved.
