On a bright sunny day with a loyal modest crowd, Street FC continued their good start to the season by thrashing Roman Glass St George 5-1 at the Tannery.

Street started as they finished their mid-week game at Bridport, causing Roman Glass to defend deep in their own half.

It was on 20 minutes with constant pressure that Street got their first goal. Street's young local exciting forward Kyle Strange got himself in the Roman Glass 18-yard box with the goal at his mercy. The crowd were like a coiled spring awaiting his shot. He looked up and saw his young team mate Alessandro Costanza at the far post and passed him the ball. Costanza, another young Street player, did not disappoint and fired the ball into the Roman Glass net.

Roman Glass upped their game and were rewarded with a long high ball that caught the Street defence off guard, the Roman Glass forward getting between the defenders and putting the ball past the oncoming keeper and in the back of the net. Five minutes later was the half time whistle, one each and all to play for.

The second half is what every supporter wishes for, to be there when it happens, but there was no suggestion of what we were about to see in the first half.

Ed Butcher started the ball rolling with once more a bit of class, cutting in from the right with speed getting to the edge of the box and hitting the ball into the far corner.

Within the minute, a loose ball in the Roman Glass box saw Latas hammer the ball into the roof of the net.

Street were now 3-1 up and it was game over. They made it 100 per cent certain as a very dangerous ball came in from the right saw the goalkeeper misjudge and the Roman Glass full back went to clear but fired the ball into his own net.

It was 4-1 to Street with minutes remaining and it was not over as the young guns did not stop running.

It was the young gun Mr Strange with a piece of skill that should only belong to someone much older, to get the goal he deserved with a class move in Roman Glass box. It finished 5-1 and was a great game to watch.

It is well worth a visit to see this young side, with local talent on offer. You will not be disappointed.

The Cobblers Cafe is now open serving take away food and drinks. The bar is fully up to Covid safe standards and has a large outside space, providing refreshment before, during and after the game.

There was great news after the game as Street reserves put five past Stsplgrove away so it was all about fives this weekend.
