Four students at Millfield School in Street have scored in the top 10 per cent of students in the country in the latest SAT exam for US admissions.
Upper Sixth students Jamie White, Lucy Jane Matthews, Stanislaw Chausson and Advait Patodia each achieved a score of at least 1,290 out of 1,600 in the exam, with Jamie scoring in the top three per cent in the country.
Top scorer Jamie is studying mathematics, physics and economics A-levels at Millfield and is hoping to study mathematics in the US.
This year, a record number of Millfield students have applied for Early Action/Early Decisions on their US university applications and will consequently receive their offers in December rather than having to wait until April or May.
Millfield provides specialist guidance for applications to American universities and employs a tutor in charge and a SAT advisor.
Millfield is one of a few SAT centres in the UK which means that students do not need to leave the campus to take their SAT entry exam.
This year, 23 Millfield leavers and three Old Millfieldians won places at institutions such as Duke, Chicago, Northwestern, UCLA, Virginia and Toronto, and nine of them achieved a mixture of academic and sporting scholarships, including swimming, tennis, golf, hockey and football.
Further afield, places were also won at universities in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Monaco and Malaysia.
