Firefighters from Street helped tackle a fire in a bedroom in Bridgwater in the early hours of this morning (December 3).

Just after 1.15am, two fire engines from Bridgwater were initially sent to a report of a bedroom on fire in a domestic property in Sauneye Way in the town.

On arrival crews confirmed the bedroom on the first floor was well alight and asked for further assistance. Another fire engine was sent from Bridgwater.

The fire then spread to a spare room and landing, so further assistance was requested again. This time two fire engines from Taunton and a Command Support Unit from Street were also sent.

The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a main jet.

There was 100 per cent fire damage to the bedroom, 100 per cent smoke damage to first floor and 70 per cent heat damage to remainder of first floor. The cause of the fire was accidental.
