A second year group at Crispin School in Street has been sent home today (September 23) following another student being involved in a confirmed case of coronavirus.

In a letter to parents today, the school says that it has been advised by Somerset County Council Public Health that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 involving a student in Year 9.

On Monday, Year 8 at the school were sent home to learn following a student in that year group also being involved in a positive case of coronavirus.

The school is continuing to monitor the situation and it remains open for students in Years 7, 10 and 11.

However, the Year 9 bubble will now be learning from home until, and including, October 2, which is 14 days since the student with the confirmed case was last at school.

The letter to parents says: "If your child is well at the end of the 14 days period of self-isolation, then they can return to usual activities.

"Other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 14-day self-isolation period.

"Please be aware – there is no need to arrange a test unless your child or anyone else in your household shows symptoms."
