Plans to demolish six garages in Street and then build two semi-detached houses on the site, have been withdrawn.

A planning application for the building of two dwelling houses (two-bedroom and three-bedroom semi-detached) following the demolition of garages on land at Houndwood Drove, Street, had been submitted to Mendip District Council by Shah Alom.

This site has been in disuse for a number of years as the six garages are located a relatively long distance away from the residents of the housing block north west to the site, linked by a narrow unexposed alleyway covered by close board fences and without any visibility to neighbouring houses.

Aster housing association has sold the site to the applicant, who also acquired neighbouring land to enlarge the site, but this application has now been withdrawn.

One planning application in the Street area has been submitted this week:

Variation of condition 2 (plans list) of permission 2015/1671/HSE at 12 Hooper Road, Street, has been applied for by Mr Martin Hooper.

Certificate of Lawfulness for the proposed installation of flat roof dormer window to rear elevation to facilitate loft conversion, change from existing rear mono pitch roof to flat roof and installation of three rooflights to front elevation at Tremerryn, Middle Street, Ashcott, by Mr Jackson has been approved.

Certificate of Lawfulness for the proposed erection of a single storey extension to the side (north west) garage and store, and erection of single-storey extension to the rear (south west) elevation at 10 Berhill, Ashcott, by Ms Pett has been approved.
