An area of land in Butleigh that gained permission for the building of 32 homes on appeal, is up for sale.
The land behind West View, in Sub Road, is on the market with Greenslade Taylor Hunt, with the price on application.
On May 1 2019, Mendip District Council refused to grant outline planning permission for the building of up to 32 dwellings, together with associated infrastructure works. There were five grounds for refusal.
However, Butleigh LVA LLP, on November 12 2019, lodged an appeal against the refusal. The Planning Inspectorate, on April 8 2020, upheld the appeal and granted outline planning permission.
The site is located to the south of Butleigh's village centre. It currently forms part of the property known as West View. It is a detached bungalow fronting on to Sub Road, which is to the west of the site.
To the north of the site is the village's playground and the Holm Oaks housing estate, to the east by the Old Stables and Rockes Barn properties, to the south by a row of detached houses fronting on to Barton Road and to the west by a row of detached bungalows fronting on to Sub Road and Peony Cottage.
The site comprises of the extension and garage of West View and agricultural land, which in total makes nearly four acres.
Of the dwellings that have permission, 22 will be sold on the open market and 10 will be affordable homes.
