Four crews were called to a chimney fire in Street at lunchtime today (March 1).
Just after 11.45am, a fire appliance from Street was mobilised to a report of a chimney fire at Anthony Road in the village.
On arrival at the incident, crews carried out investigations and requested an additional two fire appliances, which were mobilised from Glastonbury and Somerton, and the aerial ladder platform from Yeovil.
The incident involved a fire in a woodburner which also served as a back boiler for a domestic two storey property.
The woodburner and surround was damaged as was the kitchen it was in. Light smoke damage was caused to the remainder of the property.
The fire was extinguished using two breathing apparatus wearers, an attack jet and a safety jet, plus two gas monitors were also used.
The aerial ladder platform was used to fight the fire from the roof. The cause of the fire was accidental.
