Crispin Community Centre is planning to reopen next month with a full programme of in-house supportive activities to inspire and engage Street residents.
The Leigh Road centre, part of Crispin Hall Trust, intends being back in business on August 19.
But, while the team is confident that all necessary coronavirus health and safety steps will be in place, the reopening will be dependant on Government guidelines at the time.
"We are now in full planning mode to open in the middle of next month in the safest way possible," community engagement officer Michaela Edmunds told Street Nub News.
"The target date is Wednesday August 19, and the intention is to offer a full in-house programme of lunch clubs, social activities and exercise classes to support local people and bring our community back together.
"Following current guidelines, our classes and sessions will have to have a smaller number of people and a strict booking system will be in place for each session, along with a one way system through the building.
"Crispin Community Centre will be a Covid-19 secure building so users can be confident about attending activities.
"However, with many of those visiting the centre older residents we recognise that some people will not want to join in at the moment, but we will look forward to seeing everyone as soon as they are ready."
The centre will be open from Monday August 17 for telephone inquiries and bookings on 01458 447248.
