The car park at the Victoria Club in Street is to be used as a coronavirus testing centre from next week.

At the request of Somerset County Council, part of the club's car park will be used for a Covid-19 testing centre from Tuesday (December 22).

A spokesperson for the Victoria Club told Street Nub News that only the fenced area at the end of the car park will be used.

They said: "We agreed that as the nearest testing sites are currently at Frome, Yeovil, Weston-super-Mare and Taunton there was a real need for one in the centre of the county.

"At the moment we have no indication as to how long this will continue, but it will only be while our use of the car park is minimal. When we are able to re-open and function normally this testing site will close."
