Footwear brand Clarks has opened the company's biggest outlet store globally at Clarks Village in Street today (July 22).

The new flagship store was officially opened at 10am, marked by a joint ribbon cutting by store manager Helen Dunn and Clarks Village centre director Chris Davis.

With a sales floor of 790sqm, the shop can display around 10,400 pairs of shoes and store almost 30,000 more pairs in the stockroom.

Initially, the new store will have an adult selection supported by handbags and accessories, with the kids' store moving over in September after the back to school period.

Helen Dunn said: "This was our first outlet store and it is now our largest in the world, at 1,300 square metres.

"We can't wait to welcome our customers back and provide them with a first-class shopping experience.

"There is now even more space to aid social distancing while you browse our range of shoes, handbags and accessories.

"We have everything needed to provide a safe shopping experience for our customers and their families.

"For those looking to get their kids ready for their summer, or prepare for Back to School in September, we have an enormous range of kids shoes.

"We also have dedicated 'pods', where each child has their own zone while their feet are measured.

"We will tailor our staff's approach and the protective equipment in place, making sure you - and your little ones - are happy."

Chris Davis said: "Clarks Village is thrilled to welcome Clarks' latest flagship store to the outlet.

"The brand is a huge part of our heritage, being the first outlet store to open at the site in 1993, and we hope the new store will allow shoppers to experience the brand like never before."

Since reopening in June, Clarks Village has introduced a number of safety measures to keep shoppers safe including a queuing system for entry to the centre, hand sanitiser points throughout, a one-way system to ensure social distancing can be maintained and floor stickers and signs to remind shoppers to keep the required distance apart.
