Clarks Village plans to reopen next week

There are plans to reopen Clarks Village shopping centre in Street, and a number of measures have been revealed to keep shoppers safe.

The safety measures will be in place from the planned reopening date of June 15, and include a one-way system and no stopping zones.

Clarks Village has been closed since March 24, when the government introduced the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Chris Davis, centre director at Clarks Village, said: "Safety is our highest priority.

"We're working hard to ensure we adhere to all government guidelines at Clarks Village, and will be taking a robust approach to cleanliness and hygiene.

"As well as the thorough cleaning of the centre, we will be using floor markers and signs to remind guests to keep the required distance apart, we will be providing hand sanitiser for guests to use at the centre, and our Guest Safety and Guest Service teams will be available to help manage queuing.

"From June 15, guests will be able to check which stores are open on our website and we will list FAQs there too.

"We're looking forward to welcoming our guests back and will be fully compliant with government guidance at all times."

Safety measures that will be put in place include:

- Hand sanitiser points will be located at entrance and exits.

- A one-way system will be in place to ensure social distancing can be maintained and capacity will be limited.

- No stopping zones will be introduced at a small number of points within the mall area to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

- A queuing system will be introduced for entry to the centre and stores, to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

- All centre staff will be provided with masks and will be operating throughout the centre as Social Distancing Champions, supporting guests wherever possible.

- Signs, banners, posters and painted floor markers will help remind guests to keep a safe distance apart.
