The A39 will be closed at Chilton Polden today (January 7) to enable a tree surgeon to safely remove dangerous trees.

The road will be closed at Chilton Polden Hill, between the crossroads where Holy Well Road and Moor Road meet the A39, and the junction of the A39 with Ford Lane, from 9.30am.

Numerous trees have partially fallen on this stretch of the A39, and are being held up by other trees and the telegraph wires, meaning they are a danger to road users.

The road was closed for a few hours yesterday to deal with the immediate danger, but it will close again today to enable a tree surgeon to fully make the area safe.

The official diversion road is to use the parallel A372 via Westonzoyland and A361 via Greinton.
