At the end of June, Walton resident James Neal and four colleagues will embark on an epic 1,000-mile bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).

The team will cover the length of Britain in nine days, cycling between 100 and 120 miles a day.

Their route will take them over the Cairngorms, through the Lake District, across the Midlands, around the Mendip Hills and over Dartmoor.

James said: "In total we will climb approximately 50,000ft - Mount Everest is only 30,000ft.

"We aim to raise £2,500 for GWAAC, who depend on charity donations to operate.

"Last year GWAAC carried out 1,726 missions, averaging five seriously injured patients a day."

If you would like to donate, you can visit the team's JustGiving page here.
