Notice has been given that, following the resignation of John Diment, a casual vacancy has arisen in the office of councillor for the North Ward of Street Parish Council.

If, within 14 working days after the date of this notice, a request for an election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer, Mendip District Council, Cannard's Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT by 10 electors for the said ward, an election will be held to fill the vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the parish council by co-option.

It should be noted that, if an election is requested, a poll cannot currently take place until May 6 2021 as a result of the Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Coronavirus Act 2020.

There is also currently a vacancy in the West Ward of Street Parish Council, which will be filled by the council at its meeting of September 15.
