Two people had to be freed from a car after it flipped on to its side in Compton Dundon in the early hours of yesterday morning (May 28).

Just after 3.15am, fire appliances from Street and Somerton along with the heavy rescue vehicle from Glastonbury were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision on the B3151 Somerton Road in Compton Dundon.

On arrival at the incident, crews confirmed a single vehicle road traffic collision with the car on its side with two occupants physically trapped.

Crews set to work stabilising the vehicle and setting up equipment to release the casualties.

One 48-year-old female and one 18-year-old male were released from the vehicle by fire crews using hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools.

The casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service with no obvious injuries.
