Staff at Crispin School in Street have spent the last few months organising a Summer School for Year 6 students joining them in Year 7 in September.
Joanne Cowper, deputy head teacher, said they school really wanted to give the new students an experience that would provide familiarity, build confidence, create meaningful connections with new friends and staff, and above all else allow them to have lots of fun after such a tough time.
The programme for the week, which takes place from August 16, is packed full of opportunities with theme days each day such as Hogwarts Day where students will create potions in science and learn to play Quidditch, Olympics Day, and a day of outdoor learning where minibeast hotels will be designed and created while students create their own outdoor habitats.
They also have Movie Madness Day where students will be responsible for designing, creating and editing their own short films with some masterclasses in stage make-up and scriptwriting along the way.
The whole week culminates in a celebration event on the Friday where parents will be invited to Crispin to see the creations the students have made over the week.
Mrs Cowper said: "Families have not been able to visit our school and familiarise themselves with our setting this year due to Covid-19 restrictions so we are very much looking forward to inviting families in so that their children can introduce their parents and carers to their new school.
"Feeling like you belong is so important to us."
Crispin have nearly 200 students attending in August with further leadership opportunities created for their older students in Year 10 and 11 who will support during the week as Ambassadors.
