Students from Street and Walton have reflected on their grades after results day and are now looking to the future.

Benjamin Morris, of Street, attended Strode College and in his A-levels achieved Chemistry A*, Spanish A*, Extended Project Qualification A* and Further Maths A.

The former Crispin School student is now planning to study Msci Geology at the University of Birmingham.

He said: "I am very pleased about my results as they represent all the hard work I put into my studies, guided by my supportive tutors.

"I really like the fact that during my time at college I had the opportunity to develop myself through the enrichment activities on offer at Strode.

"I certainly believe that Strode has made a positive impact upon my education. From the high-quality tutors to the excellent resources, Strode helped me to make the most of my course."

Isabel Corp from Street also attended Strode and in her A-levels achieved Business A*, Sociology A* and Psychology A*.

The former Crispin student said: "I am really happy and surprised with my results.

"What I really liked about studying at Strode was that it has a nice atmosphere; everyone's really friendly.

"In classes everyone got on well together. I found the LRC a good facility, especially for group study where we could concentrate well in the quiet environment.

"The teachers are also good at pushing you to achieve your best, especially the Psychology teacher I had."

Another Strode A-levels high achiever was Elliot Hegarty from Walton who achieved Biology A*, Psychology A* and Physical Education A.

The former Crispin School students is now planning to study BSc Sport and Exercise Science at The University of Bath.

He said: "I'm happy with my results as I just wanted to get enough to get into university which I have done so I'm really pleased.

"The quality of teachers at Strode College is great, I got along with all of my teachers and they had really helped me and I learnt a lot from them.

"I enjoyed football enrichment and met good few friends from that too. I think it was down to the teachers and the environment that gave me the confidence to do well."

Other high-achieving A-level results at Strode included Isabel Jones from Street who achieved French A*, Spanish A and English Literature A; Isaac Milford from Street who achieved History A*, Maths A and Physics A; Hugo Dumontroty from Street who achieved Maths A*, Biology A* and Further Maths A; and Jacob Russell from Street who achieved Maths A*, Spanish A* and Biology A.

The Strode students who achieved a triple distinction star in their Extended Diploma included Connor Abbott-Meech, Mark Aylward and Alexander Basta all from Street who took IT Practitioners Level 3 Extended Diploma; Alyssa Brandon from Walton who took Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care; and Georgia Burrett and Jack Hoddinott both from Street who took Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business.

The Government's announcement on Wednesday detailing the 'Triple Lock' approach for the results, means that students can have the option to accept their calculated grades, appeal to receive their mock results instead or sit autumn exams as a third option.

Chris Harvey, Strode careers advisor, said: "Most Strode UCAS applicants have been placed and we are working very closely with a small minority who we are supporting through clearing.

"So the vast majority of our students will meet their firm or conditional offer and with Clearing offers included it is likely that almost all students will be placed.

"We've seen a really interesting and diverse range of degrees this year including Korean and Teaching English; Natural History and Media; Immersive Computing, Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, Mental Health Nursing, Neuroscience and Architecture."

Strode principal Katy Quinn said: "The Triple Lock means that we still haven't got a final overall picture of results for our students and expect that grades will increase further.

"Students should be proud of what they have achieved and everyone at Strode wishes them all the very best of luck with their next steps."
