Strode College in Street has announced that it will be a sponsor of the South West Business and Community Awards, one of the largest business award celebrations within the region.
The awards aim to shine a light on the successes of South West businesses and charities after a challenging year.
The coronavirus pandemic meant that the last year was extremely challenging for a lot of businesses in the area, and the country as a whole.
It's for this reason that Strode will be sponsoring the 2021 awards - to put some focus towards those businesses that have worked to overcome such adversity and do great things nonetheless.
The awards scheme, organised by Great British Expos, recognises the region's most ambitious, inspirational and exciting businesses, charities and individuals.
This year's ceremony will take place virtually on April 29 and there is already a more than 500 nominations.
The organisers expect to have more than 600 people in attendance, making it the largest awards celebration in the South West.
Awards, certificates, and bespoke celebration boxes will be delivered to the doors of all attendees prior to the awards ceremony.
Strode College will be showing its support on the evening by sponsoring the Apprentice of the Year Award.
This year, the standard of entrants is already very high, looking like there might be more than last year's shortlisted record of 165 for the awards across the award categories.
The South West Business and Community Awards judging process will see a range of entrepreneurs come together to scrutinise and select the finalists from the short-listed nominees and choose the winners among them.
David Byford, director of employer engagement at Strode College, said: "We are delighted to sponsor the Apprenticeship of the Year category in the South West Business Awards.
"Apprenticeships are a great way of bringing new talent into a business. With new government incentives, businesses will be eligible for up to £4,000 for each new apprentice employed.
"To help boost business after lockdown we are offering all businesses a free training needs analysis to identify how firms can benefit from new skills development at low cost, or no cost at all."
Entrepreneur Christina Briggs is again part of the judging panel and said: "Judging this year's awards will be tough.
"Every entry is of a very high standard and each one is unique which makes the decision harder. I'm very proud of the quality of businesses that we have in this region and these awards give them the true recognition that they deserve."
Alec Jones-Hall, director of South West Business and Community Awards, said: "We are proud and excited to be celebrating outstanding achievement across the region and rewarding those who are making a huge impact throughout the South West."
The winners from the 14 categories will be announced at the virtual awards ceremony on April 29, with one being hailed the Business of the Year.
Confirmed sponsors are Aspen Waite, Hills Waste Solutions, the Business Exchange, Media Hut, Devmac, IMSM, Strode College and Great British Expos.
