Street Nub News is about to be two months old. To mark this occasion, we wanted to write an article that celebrated all things Street.

Street may be a village, but it is home to one of Somerset's largest companies, and has amenities that are the envy of many neighbouring towns.
The home of Clarks Shoes, still one of the world's most iconic footwear brands, the village of Street feels more like a town thanks to its size and wealth of shopping and dining options.
In fact, Street's list of credentials is longer than most places in the area with other jewels in its crown including Millfield school and the ichthyosaur fossils unearthed in a nearby quarry.
Located on a Roman road - hence the name Street, derived from the Latin word for road, strata – the village is also home to Clarks Village shopping centre that draws millions of shoppers from far and wide.
Clarks Village is located right in the heart of Street, so it's just a few steps from the village's high street, which is packed with shops and was once known as the Golden Mile.
At the far eastern end of the high street you'll find Greenbank Pool, an outdoor swimming location that's famous among locals and a family must-visit during the summer.
Strode Theatre is also an amenity that villagers are proud of, with a wide range of productions and films, from larger national shows and performers, through to local pantomimes and artists.
When we asked Street residents to sum up their village in three words, one said "ideal small town" and that really hits the nail on the head.
Street is still a village despite having a larger population than Wells, Shepton Mallet or Glastonbury, but its combination of facilities, access and housing works better than many towns.
Peter Goater, chairman of Street Parish Council, agrees and said: "Street is populated by friendly, welcoming people.
"It is a village with more amenities than many large towns, indoor and outdoor (Greenbank) swimming pools, large theatre (Strode Theatre), large range of sports facilities (Victoria Club), football club, Parkrun and more than ten restaurants and cafes.
"As well as the 90 shops in Clarks Village factory outlet it has a thriving high street and weekly market on a Thursday."
Head teacher of Crispin School, Paul Reddick, said: "Among the best elements of Street I would highlight the sense of community, many of the people I have met while I have worked in the area and Strode Theatre.
"In terms of the biggest issue that needs addressing, the main thing that hits me would be some of the issues with traffic especially for local residents and pedestrians.
"For example, it would be disingenuous to classify the stretch between Church Road and the High Street as a pedestrian wonderland."
Of course, Street isn't perfect, but it certainly ticks a lot of boxes for what a bustling large village or town should be like in the 21st century.
