Firefighters from Street tackled a chimney fire in Shapwick yesterday afternoon (March 6).

Just after 3.45pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a chimney fire in Northbrook Road, Shapwick.

One fire engine from Street attended the incident. On arrival crews confirmed a fire in the flue of a wood-burning stove and got to work setting up chimney gear and used a thermal imaging camera working from the hearth.

Crews requested the attendance of an aerial ladder platform, which attended from Yeovil.

The fire was extinguished using chimney equipment and using the aerial ladder platform to work from the roof.
