Street firefighters were among four crews who were called to a compactor vehicle fire in Glastonbury this morning (June 6).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service control received a call just after 7.15am this morning to a compactor vehicle on fire in a yard in Glastonbury.

Crews from Glastonbury, Street, Bridgwater, and Yeovil will quickly mobilised to the scene. On arrival, the crews found the large vehicle well alight in close proximity to a building.

They quickly got to work using three breathing apparatus, two foam attack jets and two thermal imaging cameras. Crews were able to maintain the fire to just the vehicle and extinguished it.

It has been a busy 24 hours for Street firefighters, after they help to put out a blaze in Lydford-on-Fosse yesterday.
