Street firefighters among seven crews who tackled outbuildings fire in Yeovilton

Firefighters from Street were among seven crews who were called to outbuildings on fire in Yeovilton last night (February 2).

Just after 9pm, fire crews were mobilised to a report of outbuildings on fire in Pyle Lane, Yeovilton.

Crews from Yeovil, Martock, Somerton, Wincanton, Castle Cary, Street and Sherborne attended this incident along with supporting officers providing different roles.

This was a fire involving one outbuilding of wood construction measuring approximately six metres by four metres that was 40 per cent damaged by fire, a second four-metre square outbuilding that was 20 per cent damaged by fire and one pick-up truck that was 70 per cent damaged by fire.

Equipment used by the fire crews included four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two covering jets, one compressed air foam jet and two thermal imaging cameras. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
