Firefighters from Street were among eight crews who were called to tackle a fire in Tytherington, near Frome, in the early hours of this morning (May 13).

Just after 4am, two fire engines from Frome, one from Warminster and an aerial platform ladder from Yeovil, were sent to a report of a fire within a commercial oven at Marston Park, Tytherington.

On arrival crews confirmed smoke issuing and the building had been evacuated.

Further assistance was then requested, so further fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Warminster were sent, as well as a command support unit from Street and an incident support unit from Martock.

The fire was extinguished using four breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

Crews ventilated the building using a positive pressure fan.

There was 15 per cent fire damage to the oven and its contents, and 50 per cent smoke damage to the oven area. The cause of the fire was accidental.
