A planning application for the conversion of the former PDSA charity shop in Street into a nail and beauty salon has been approved by Mendip District Council.
The application for the change of use on the ground floor from a charity shop (Class A1) to a nail and beauty salon (Sui Generis) at 98A High Street, Street, had been made by Mr The Anh Nguyen.
Until last year, the High Street shop, that sits between Gregg's and Pizza Express, was occupied by the animal charity.
However, it can now be converted into a beauty salon, that would be open from 9am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
In approving the plans, the planning officer's report said: "The principle of the proposed use, within the town centre boundary and primary retail frontage in a Primary Shopping Area, especially in light of the Government's more flexible approach to town centre development, is considered acceptable, and no unacceptable harm has been identified."
