Plans are in the pipeline to expand Street Business Park creating more than 600 new jobs.

Property developer Canynge Bicknell has submitted an outline planning application to Mendip District Council to build multi-purpose business units and offices, retail and drink outlets along with a 126-bed residential care home.

The plan also includes a new access junction off the A39 Quarry Batch and pedestrian and cycle routes through the park.

The design and access statement highlights the vision for the extension:

  • Create a gateway on the approach to Walton and Street to the benefit of the local community
  • Provide high quality, pleasant and functional working environments for employees and businesses
  • Create a green and sustainable development with the main tree-lined avenue leading the design to provide a feature that enriches the surrounding spaces
  • Create a connected development with cycle and pedestrian links allowing the development to enhance neighbouring sites and providing essential access for users
  • Offer a flexible and deliverable development to meet future commercial requirements
  • Provide modern and secure apartments with integrated care and support for residents
  • Introduce a new food and drink offer expanding on the current provision and providing facilities for new and local users
