Cheeky Chimps Pre-School in Ashcott will be able to build a new classroom after planning approval was given.

The planning application for the building of a new classroom building on site of an existing classroom that will be demolished at Ashcott County Primary School, Ridgeway, Ashcott, was submitted by Cheeky Chimps Pre-School and approved by Sedgemoor District Council.

The site is currently occupied by a modular temporary classroom building, which was moved from another part of the site in 2002 and has since been occupied by Cheeky Chimps Pre-school. The new building will occupy the same site, albeit with a slightly enlarged floor plan.

Cheeky Chimps is a pre-school that also offers after-school activities for primary school pupils. Due to the increase in demand for the pre-school and the deterioration of the existing building a replacement build is needed.

The pre-school currently has 45 children attending, and around 50 pupils from the primary school using Cheeky Chimps for wraparound provision before and after school.

Planning applications in the Street are that have been submitted this week include:

Removal of existing conservatory to side elevation, existing boundary hedge and cherry plum tree from rear garden, erection of single storey side extension and rap around veranda, erection of new six foot timber fencing on top of existing boundary wall, replacement of existing flat roof with new pitched roof to side elevation at 56 Green Lane, Street, is wanted by Mr and Mrs Grenter.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area have been applied for at Leigh Holt, Stallgrove Lane, Street, by Mr Peter Clothier.

Planning applications in the Street area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of extension to existing single garage to create a double garage at 82 Leigh Road, Street, by Messrs C and D Vicker-Craddock has been approved.

Construction of driveway and turning area from Broadway into front garden at 92 Broadway, Chilton Polden, by Mr S Oram has been approved.
