Millfield School in Street looking to transform lives as campaign with #TOGETHERBAND to launch
Millfield School in Street is launching a campaign, Millfield Transform a Life x #TOGETHER FUND, to raise funds for bursaries to enable talented children to access a transformational education.
Millfield Transform A Life campaign launches on Monday (September 14) in partnership with the global awareness campaign #TOGETHERBAND.
#TOGETHERBAND, created by former Millfield student Cameron Saul, aims to build an engaged and active global community, committed to achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals by the 2030 target date.
Cameron is also the co-founder of Bottletop, a sustainable fashion brand, which was launched with a mission to empower people and the planet, through sustainable design and creative culture.
Cameron applied this ethos to the #TOGETHERBAND campaign, using Bottletop's sustainability to help promote the 17 UN Global Goals.
Millfield School awards a number of transformational bursaries (up to 100 per cent) every year and works alongside the Royal National Children's SpringBoard Foundation, the UK's largest boarding school bursary charity, to offer children from underprivileged backgrounds an educational lifeline.
The Millfield Transform a Life x #TOGETHER FUND campaign calls upon supporters to choose one of the Global Goals, purchase a wrist band which represents their Goal, post their support on social media channels and donate or fundraise.
Money raised from sales of wrist bands and donations will be split 50/50 between Millfield and #TOGETHERBAND beneficiaries who are working on the front line to deliver the Global Goals.
The campaign has already received backing from notable Millfield alumni including Dr Sarah Jarvis - GP, Clinical Director at Patient and Resident Doctor on BBC R2's Jeremy Vine Show, Ed Jackson - former professional rugby union player, Michael Hayman MBE - entrepreneur, broadcaster and author, Mohamed and Marwan Elshorbagy – professional squash players and Amy Yuan - prize-winning violinist/erhuist and Associate of The Royal Academy of Music, who have become campaign Ambassadors.
They have chosen one of the 17 Global Goals to champion. Other #TOGETHERBAND Ambassadors include Lewis Hamilton, Naomi Campbell and David Beckham.
As well as raising money for bursaries for talented children to attend Millfield, the partnership will raise vital funding to help deliver the UN's Global Goals.
Millfield students will be asked to choose the 'Global Goal' that resonates with them most, taking part in fundraising and raising awareness for their chosen initiative during the school year, with prizes for the most imaginative and successful efforts.
Nicola Pender, Head of Alumni and Foundation at Millfield School, said: "We are very excited to be partnering with #TOGETHERBAND to enable us to transform young people's lives with Millfield's bursary programme, but also support the UN Goals for sustainable development which the school-age generation are hugely passionate about.
"This is a unique opportunity to give young people the life changing experience of a Millfield education, while also engaging with some of the most pressing issues facing our planet today."
Cameron Saul said: "The Global Goals are a route map to a healthy and sustainable planet but we'll only achieve them by joining forces and working together.
"This is why I'm thrilled to launch this campaign with Millfield, raising vital funds and awareness for brilliant projects working hard to achieve the Goals as well as providing opportunities for talented students to attend the school."
