Fast food chain McDonald's has said it is working to reduce the impact of queues at its Street restaurant after cars blocked the nearby roundabout on the A39.

At about 2pm on Saturday (September 12) the queue from the McDonald's drive through was reported to be stretching back far enough not only to block entry to the Sainsbury's and Lidl supermarkets, but out on to the main road, blocking the roundabout for all traffic.

A local resident who witnessed the queues said there was no traffic control and nothing to stop the queue lengthening.

However, a spokesperson for McDonald's told Street Nub News they were aware of the queues and were working to reduce the impact they had on the local area.

The spokesperson said: "With restaurant teams adjusting to new procedures to enable safe working and social distancing, things have been taking a little longer – and demand has been very high.

"We ask that customers bear with us as we adapt to a new way of working. We are aware some queues have developed, and we have been working to mitigate their impact as much as possible."
