Planning permission has been given for the whole of the Street Removals and Storage building to have shared use between retail, storage and leisure.

A planning application for the change of use from A1 (retail) and B8 (storage) to A1, B8 and D2 (leisure), including the provision of off street parking for the owner/tutor of the classes at 56 West End, Street, by Mr and Mrs G M Travella has been approved by Mendip District Council planners.

The site is current shared between the removals and storage company and the Gracie Barra martial arts organisation.

With this new permission, rather than only certain areas of the building being allowed to be used by each party, all uses can now take place across the whole building.

Other planning applications in the Street area decided this week by Mendip District Council include:

Demolition of existing garage and erection of single storey extension to east elevation and erection of front porch at 5 Leigh Furlong Road, Street, by Mr Burden has been approved.

Single storey rear extension at 4 Hempitts Road, Walton, by Mr and Mrs Baker has been approved.

The installation of six illuminated shopfront logos with backing panels into the new shopfronts at Clarks Village, Units 13 And 21, Farm Road, Street, by Mr George Blanchard has been approved.

The following planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council this week:

Works to tree in a Conservation Area T1 Salix babylonica (weeping willow) fell and replant alternative small tree at Hadley Cottage, Water Lane, Butleigh, have been applied for by Mrs Alison Hill.
