Hundreds of elderly and vulnerable residents in Street enjoyed a Cream Tea Celebration for the 75th anniversary of VE Day yesterday (May 8) thanks to the village's Community Support Group.

Volunteers from the Street Community Support Group made up more than 600 cream teas and then delivered them to bring a smile to those who are in self-isolation in the village.

The cream teas have been made possible by the group's fundraising, where people can donate £2 to pay for a cream tea for someone vulnerable.

So far, nearly £1,000 has been raised, and to donate you can visit the JustGiving page here.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We've had such lovely feedback from the residents who received a cream tea, so one final thank you to everyone who got involved, whether it was donating money or ingredients, baking, packing or delivering, we wouldn't have been able to do it without you all.

"We're so proud of the fantastic community spirit which is clearly evident in Street right now."
