A horse was successfully rescued from a hedgerow in Chilton Polden yesterday (July 5) after it was sedated to help firefighters freeing it.

Just before 8.45am, a fire appliance and the specialist rescue team were mobilised from Bridgwater Fire Station to South Moors Lane in Chilton Polden.

Upon arrival at scene, the crew confirmed that there was a horse wedged in the hedgerow. As the horse had a nervous nature, the decision was made to wait for a vet to attend to sedate the horse to prevent potential injury to the horse and firefighters.

Once the sedation had taken effect, the crews worked with small tools and alongside the vet to release the horse.
