Garage completely destroyed by fire

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls to a fire at a garage in Street last night (August 30).

The calls came just after 8pm about a blaze at a garage at Portway.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Street and one fire appliance from Glastonbury to attend this incident.

On arrival the incident commander request a third appliance to attend this incident for water and personnel. The incident commander confirm a garage to be well alight.

Fire control mobilised one fire appliance from Somerton and a duty officer to attend this incident.

Crews got to work extinguishing the fire with one hose reel jet, one main jet and two breathing apparatus. Adjoining properties were checked to make sure no one was within them.

The garage was a hundred percent damaged by the fire which is believed to have been accidental.
