Garage business in Street given approval to expand with new offices and parking

A garage business in Street has been given the go-ahead to expand, as Mendip District Council has approved new offices and parking at the site.

The planning application for the building of portable building offices and additional parking hardstanding at the workshop behind 82 West End, Street, was submitted by Colin Edwards.

The parking area will be able to accommodate 15 extra vehicles at the garage run by Mr Edwards, and the new offices will be accessed via the existing non-classified road to the site.

In giving the plans approval, the council said the development met its strategy for the location of new development, and it would be in keeping with its surroundings.

Planning applications in the Street area that have been submitted this week include:

Erection of biomass boiler house (retrospective) at Orchard Neville House, Ham Street, Baltonsborough, has been applied for by Guna and Anthony Crouch.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area T1 - willow - pollard x 4m, T2 - apple tree - reduce x 2m in height and 2m in width, T3 - two beech trees - reduce x 2m in height and 2m in width at Dyers Orchard, Water Lane, Butleigh, are wanted by Mr G De Wilton.

Removal of existing hedge, creation of a bund and associated landscaping works, erection of walls to vehicular access and installation of proposed rooflights to north side of barn conversion east of Holywell Road, Edington, has been applied for by Mr A Wynne.

Planning applications in the Street area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of two-storey rear extension and internal alterations at Rubbery Farm, Rubbery Lane, Lydford-on-Fosse, has been approved.

Erection of a two-storey extension, on site of existing lean-to and single-storey garage to be demolished at Moorvale, Pit Hill Lane, Moorlinch, by Mr Malecki has been withdrawn.

Removal of Condition 8 of Planning Permission 90564/1 (erection of an agricultural dwelling) to remove the agricultural tie at Sunset Bay Farm, Burtle Road, Burtle, by Mr and Mrs Cox has been approved.
