Street Parish Council is holding a Discover Your Community event at Crispin Hall and Community Centre in the village on February 29, from 10am to 2pm.
The event aims to bring together many groups and organisations from the community to highlight the great work they do, as well as the public, young and old, to engender a sense of pride and aspiration.
Cllr Debra Drew, who recently chatted with students at Millfield about the importance of community for an interview to be broadcast on Glastonbury FM, said: "As a parish council, we have recently committed to working with and supporting initiatives that champion vulnerable families and young people, such as the local YMCA Youth Club and holiday breakfasts and activities, plus an ongoing initiative to keep the library open as a community partnership.
"Already we have lots of groups and all kinds of organisations coming together to appear on the day, and to help get the event off the ground - our local schools, Strode College, Street Library, Crispin Hall and Community Centre, GFM and Millfield.
"We can't wait to celebrate the wide range of help and activities available to people in Street on February 29."
Others due to appear at the Discover Your Community event are Village Agent Bella Lapwood who runs the Street Talking Cafe alongside Fen Bagias from Health Connections Mendip, who advises residents on how to access local services and develop their support network.
There will be live music from the Wind Band from the Centre Of Somerset Music Club and the Back Street Stompers, a free raffle includes prizes of a Millfield Holiday Activity voucher, a Pillars of Street lunch voucher, Strode Theatre tickets and a mini-eco hamper.
The Friends of Street Library will be handing out vouchers for free children's books and DVD loans too.
