A dental practice in Street is providing free fruit for children during the lockdown, to help families who are struggling financially.

TRUST Dental in the High Street want to do their bit for the community, so have come up with the scheme to help those who need it to get their children some fresh fruit.

The practice prides itself of acting responsibly, and earlier this year moved to sustainable PPE when it resumed treatments after we came out of the first lockdown.

Practice manager Alison Davis said: "We would like to do something for our community.

"In these very hard times with families struggling financially and having to go to food banks and them not having or stocking fresh produce, we would like to supply fresh fruit for children and enable them to have a healthy option.

"And with us being a dental practice we would always promote a healthy diet not only for your all-round health but for your teeth as well.

"So starting from Friday November 20 we will put out a table in front of our practice and whoever is interested in having a bag of fresh fruit, if they send me a personal message on Facebook with the child's name and a rough time between 9am and 5pm, they can come by and pick it up from the table outside, to obviously keep up with social distancing.

"We are going to do it every Friday over lockdown."
