Crispin School in Street has set out its safety measures as staff say the safe return of students this week is their "top priority".

Year group bubbles will remain, and a one-way system will be in place for students travelling around school.

Staff at the school have also praised the efforts of the students and their parents with their remote work, with the learning curve being described as "significant".

A spokesperson for the school said: "Crispin have been rigorous in ensuring that students feel safe with the wider opening of the school this week.

"We are delighted to be welcoming students back to school having supported them through remote learning.

"Crispin students, their families and our team have worked hard during lockdown and have shown real resilience.

"With the wider re-opening we will continue to ensure students remain in their year group bubbles, following the one-way system when travelling around school. Crispin students hand sanitise regularly, doing so on entry and exit from each classroom.

"Colleagues, students and their families have learnt a lot from remote learning - the learning curve has been significant.

"There are elements of blended learning that the students really like, especially linked to how efficiently teachers can assess tasks and give helpful feedback, which we will endeavour to continue to build into our lessons.

"Students have also enjoyed taking responsibility for their learning, developing and refining their assignments in an independent manner, and we will ensure students continue to lead in shaping the direction of learning.

"Our top priority is ensuring students can return safely this week, aiming to deliver a fantastic face-to-face student experience.

"We look forward to reintroducing our enrichment opportunities. We don't talk about the 'lost learning', we focus on moving forward as we have done every day during lockdown.

"We will continue to celebrate the tenacity and resilience our students, their families and the Crispin team have demonstrated."
