Clarks Village makeover including Street High Street and Farm Road entrances is approved

Clarks Village in Street has been given permission to revamp its signage to give the outlet shopping centre a "more premium look and feel".

The planning application for miscellaneous (illuminated/non-illuminated) advertisements (replacement and additional) to facilitate wayfinding and navigation, and provide relevant information for visitors to Clarks Village had been submitted to Mendip District Council by LS Street Ltd.

The new-look signage scheme - including two at the entrances off High Street and Farm Road featuring a new branch emblem - is described in a document supporting the application as "part of the ongoing process of upgrading and refreshing the brand, and responding to technological advances, such as pay by phone parking".

Planning applications in the Street area that have been submitted this week include:

Erection of a single storey rear extension at 64 Cranhill Road, Street, has been applied for by Mr C Higgins.

Material change of use from office (B1a) to holiday let (C3) at Ash View Farm, Southwood Lane, Baltonsborough, is wanted by Mr C Reeves.

Create driveway and turning space from Broadway into front garden at 92 Broadway, Chilton Polden, has been applied for by Mr S Oram.

Works to trees T1 sycamore - remove deadwood and reshape crown; T2 yew - reduce lateral limbs to agreed points and remove epicormic growth; T3 horse chestnut - remove deadwood and crown lift up to 5m; T4 cherry - remove deadwood, crown lift 2m from footpath, crown lift 3m from car parking, reduce lateral limbs from building by 1m are wanted at 8 Manor Road, Cossington.

Planning applications in the Street area that have been decided this week include:

Removal of external ATM at 72 High Street, Street, has been approved.

Application to determine if prior approval is required for a proposed erection of a agricultural building at 5 Brook Lane, Catcott, by Mr and Mrs Cox has been approved.
