If you heard fire sirens yesterday (May 30) the service were called out to a field on Blagrove Road, in Butleigh.

A Fire Engine from Glastonbury along with Animal Rescue Equipment from Glastonbury and Bridgwater responded to a call reporting a horse in a boggy water filled ditch.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed that the horse was in a 5ft deep Rhyne with a silt base.

The call out crew formed a rescue plan which was successfully implemented following sedation of the horse by a vet.
