A farm in Baltonsborough has been told by Mendip District Council that it can build a new silage area.

A planning application for prior notification of agricultural development, for excavation works and construction of a silage clamp area for the storage of winter forage for the dairy herd at Briars Farm, Back Lane, Baltonsborough, was submitted by George Winstone.

The application said that the farm's existing storage needs updating and is inadequate, with the council agreeing that it could proceed with the works as it would not require prior planning approval.

Other planning decisions in the Street area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

T1 - TPO M1289 T9 - lime - reduce overhanging secondary and third order branches by 2-3m on land south of 11 Blenheim Road, Street, by Mendip District Council has been approved.

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: T1 (horse chestnut) - crown reduction at Butleigh Primary School, High Street, Butleigh, by Miss Helen Caines have been approved.
