This month an Academic Catch-Up course, designed for students who have just completed Year 9 or Year 10 and want to prepare for going back to the classroom for the next academic year, is being held at Millfield School in Street.
Each subject will last three hours and will look at key curriculum topics to help students with their GCSE preparation.
The subjects available are English, maths, chemistry, physics and biology. Lessons will be taught by subject specialists and students will have the opportunity to go over work which they may have found challenging during home learning.
With small class sizes students will benefit from increased interaction with the teacher, with plenty of chances to ask questions, providing a great opportunity to get ready for September.
Each subject will last three-and-a-half hours in total, with two 15-minute breaks in between three hours of lesson time.
Subjects will be scheduled in either a morning slot from 9am to 12.30pm or an afternoon slot from 1.30pm to 5pm between the dates of Monday August 17 and Friday August 21.
Millfield Enterprises, the department responsible for facility hire and holiday courses, have introduced a number of additional hygiene and safety measures to keep everyone safe, including social distancing around site and set maximum numbers of people using a facility at a time.
The course costs £45 per subject, with a 10 per cent discount available for those booking more than one subject per child, and those booking siblings onto a subject.
Bookings must be made at the same time to receive the discount. You can find out more about the Academic Catch-Up Course, which is open to all students in those year groups in the area, and book online at millfieldenterprises.com/academic.
