The A37 is closed near to West Lydford following a crash this morning (March 12).
The crash happened around 11am on the straight in between the junction with Fair Place to West Lydford and the road to Hornblotton Green.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a call at 11.06am reporting a road traffic collision on the A37 with a person trapped, and quickly mobilised fire engines from Somerton and Castle Cary along with the Rescue Tender from Glastonbury.
On arrival the crews confirmed a one-vehicle crash with the vehicle on its roof and one person still trapped.
Crews got to work to release the casualty using stabilisation equipment and hydraulic cutting equipment.
Crews released the casualty and left them in the hands of the ambulance service and then made the vehicle safe.
The A37 is shut is both directions and motorists are being advised to find an alternative route as it is not know how long the road will be closed for.
Hold-ups in traffic are being caused by the closure, and according to satellite traffic cameras, there are delays back to the Lydford-on-Fosse crossroads heading south and back to Wraxall heading north.
